Writing can be a fun and creative way for fifth-grade students to express themselves. However, coming up with interesting writing prompts can sometimes be a challenge. 7. Write a persuasive essay on why kids should have more outdoor recess time.

8. Imagine you wake up one day with the ability to fly. Describe your first flight experience and the places you would visit.

9. Write a poem about your favorite season and why it holds a special place in your heart.

10. If you could travel back in time, which historical event would you like to witness? Describe what you would see and how it would impact your understanding of history.

11. Imagine you found a hidden treasure map. Write a story about your quest to find the treasure and the challenges you face along the way.

12. Describe your dream vacation destination. What sights will you see? What activities will you do?

13. Write a short story that takes place in a magical underwater kingdom.

14. If you could have any superpower, what would it be and how would you use it to make the world a better place?

15. Imagine you could talk to animals. Write a dialogue between you and your favorite animal, discussing important world issues.

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
