1. Color-coded folders: Assign a different color for each subject or type of assignment. This helps students easily locate their work and keeps everything organized.

2. Numbered bins: Assign a number to each student and label individual bins accordingly. This way, students can quickly locate their assigned bin and turn in their work without confusion.

3. Student name tags: Attach name tags to each bin to ensure that students know exactly where to turn in their assignments. This eliminates any mix-ups and helps maintain order.

4. Three-tiered trays: Use three-tiered trays to separate assignments based on urgency or due date. This allows you to easily prioritize and distribute graded work.

5. File folders with dividers: Create sections within each folder to separate assignments by subject or specific categories. This makes it easier for both students and teachers to locate specific assignments.

6. Digital turn-in system: If your classroom uses digital platforms for assignments, consider setting up a designated folder or online platform for students to submit their work. This eliminates the need for physical organization and provides a convenient solution for both students and teachers.

7. Box file organizers: Utilize box file organizers to store and categorize completed assignments. This provides a neat and easily accessible system for archiving student work.

8. File cabinets: If you have ample space, traditional file cabinets can be a great way to organize classroom assignments. Label individual drawers or sections for each student or subject to ensure easy access and organization.

9. Hanging file folders: Install hanging file folders in a designated area of your classroom to create a centralized turn-in system. Label each folder with a student’s name, making it simple to find and collect assignments.

10. Classroom jobs: Assign a student to be responsible for organizing the turn-in bin and sorting assignments. This not only teaches responsibility but also ensures that the system remains organized and efficient.

Remember, the goal of organizing the turn-in bin is to streamline the process for both students and teachers. By implementing one or more of these creative ideas, you can create a well-organized and efficient system that promotes student engagement and success.

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
