Springfield, USA, is a name shared by several cities across the country, but perhaps none more famous than Springfield, Illinois, and Springfield, Missouri. Each city embodies the spirit of the American heartland, offering a unique blend of history, culture, and community, making Springfield a quintessential American experience.

Springfield, Illinois, is most notably the home of Abraham Lincoln. As the capital of Illinois, this Springfield boasts a rich political and historical background. Visitors can explore the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, walk through Lincoln’s preserved home, and visit his final resting place at the Lincoln Tomb. The city is steeped in history, with a blend of modern attractions like the State Capitol and a thriving downtown filled with local shops and eateries.

On the other hand, Springfield, Missouri, located in the Ozarks, is known for its natural beauty and outdoor activities. With a vibrant arts scene, a growing economy, and proximity to scenic wonders like Table Rock Lake and the Mark Twain National Forest, Springfield is a hub for adventure enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. The city’s friendly, small-town atmosphere, combined with its lively festivals and events, makes it a popular destination in the Midwest.

No matter which Springfield you visit, you’ll find a sense of community and a slower pace that reflects the charm of small-town America. These cities, while sharing the same name, offer diverse experiences—from historical landmarks and museums to beautiful parks and bustling farmers’ markets.

Springfield, USA, may be a common name, but the stories and experiences found in each of these cities are anything but ordinary, making them key parts of the broader American tapestry.

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
