Are you searching for reading fluency products that you can use with your learners? Check out the definitive list that we made. Who did we miss?

1000 Sight Words Superhero– Kids learn to read and spell the 1000 most commonly repeated words. The product groups these sight words into 50 sets containing 20 words each to avoid flooding the kid with 1000 words at once. To avoid  repetition, the pupil can highlight words already learned and focus on new words.

First Sight Words Professional– The First Sight Words Professional is designed to help your kid attain reading fluency. This product has more than 300 of the most common words in the English language; it focuses on the important vocabulary your kids will need throughout their lives. It also contains a list of about 100 common nouns as well as five levels of vocabulary to take your kid from pre-kindergarten to third grade.

Speakaboos – This is an interactive reading product designed for kids ages 2–6. It features real-along highlighting to capture children’s attention and help build early reading abilities. It also features touch-screen interactions to engage kids in reading and enhance comprehension and fluency. This product is free for a seven-day trial period, followed by the option to subscribe. A wide selection of children’ favorite books is available; the stories have one or all of the “read to me,” “read by myself,” or “read and play,” options.

Read With Me Fluency – This is a tool that helps train reading fluency in kid’s. Educators can make content for their class offline or online (both modalities cannot be utilized simultaneously). Content can be accessed on the product, PC, or paper printout. As learners read, they are recorded (audio and video), and the educator notes mistakes and problem words that can be corrected later. The product collects learner data that can be accessed by the educator.

NaturalReader – NaturalReader is a resource for kids with reading difficulties, even those without any learning disability. It works by copying text from any supported source into the tool. The free edition works fine on documents, and the paid edition enables users to save sound files they make and add NaturalReader to their toolbar. Spell checking, conversation control, and an OCR (Optical Character Reader) functions are available in the paid edition.

Reading Fluency Builder– This product goes straight to the point and tackles your kids’ reading fluency and speed by pushing them to obtain grade-level reading expectations. Reading Fluency builder has been proven to help even the most hesitant learners. This product is designed to make a fun, game-like environment that uses modeled and repeated reading to increase fluency. This product has been tested for use by kids with special needs and adults with aphasia; it can also be utilized by people learning English as a second language.

ThinkFluency – ThinkFluency is a streamlined reading fluency assessment tool for educators. Educators can use pre-loaded passages or upload their own. To track reading errors, simply tap the text where the error was made. The product automatically calculates the word per minute (WPM) rate, tracks the words that were missed, and counts the number of errors.

Literably– Literably is an assessment tool that helps educators monitor how their learners are improving in reading. With many choices for levels and reading passages, educators can test oral reading without the added stress of evaluation, composition, and grading. Literably will grade  tests on its own and give feedback to the educator, which they can either disseminate to the learners or use it to teach their classes better. This is perfect for use with a single learner or class wide.

ReadingIQ – is a literacy product that brings a personalized reading experience to each kid based on his or her needs. With ReadingIQ’s exclusive Reading Level Assessments, guardians and educators can be confident their kids or learners will find kid-friendly books that match their reading level. Reading Level Assessments, which take just minutes to comprehensive, dynamically adjust their degree of difficulty in response to each kids performance. ReadingIQ then recommends books at the appropriate level for the kid. As kids use ReadingIQ and enhance their reading comprehension and fluency abilities, the product periodically prompts them to retake Reading Level Assessments to adjust their recommended level.

LightSail Education –  Educators can use LightSail Education to monitor their learners’ reading in real-time and in detail. Educators and learners can monitor learners’ per-page progress through books in addition to their performance on Common Core-aligned assessment tasks. This tool also provides learners with access to books in the school’s digital library, which can be downloaded for later use. Educators can also make use of testing results to track learner progress over time.

Fluency Tutor for Google– Fluency Tutor for Google helps learners by making reading aloud more satisfying and fun. This product is well suited for educators who want to make good use of their time, for struggling readers, and for learners who are learning English as their second language. The product is easy to use; it enables learners to record their reading and share with their educators rather than reading aloud in class.

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
