The Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Foundation has announced a significant $1 million donation to Ogden-Weber Technical College (OWTC), supporting the construction of a new, state-of-the-art Pathway Building. This investment will provide crucial infrastructure for OWTC’s robust career and technical education programs, fostering economic growth and opportunity in the Weber County region.

The Pathway Building will house a variety of innovative programs, including advanced manufacturing, cybersecurity, and healthcare. It will feature cutting-edge labs, classrooms, and collaborative spaces designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed for in-demand careers.

“We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of the Miller Family Foundation,” said OWTC President, Tim Stewart. “Their support is a testament to their commitment to education and workforce development. This investment will not only transform our campus, but also empower our students to achieve their full potential and contribute to a thriving community.”

The donation underscores the Miller Family Foundation’s dedication to building strong communities through education and workforce development initiatives. This commitment resonates with the Foundation’s longstanding support for projects that enhance economic opportunities and quality of life.

“We believe in the power of education to transform lives,” said Brent Miller, President and CEO of the Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Foundation. “By investing in OWTC’s Pathway Building, we are investing in the future of Weber County and its workforce. We are confident that this project will create a positive ripple effect, benefitting students, businesses, and the entire community.”

The new Pathway Building is expected to open its doors in the fall of 2024, offering students a modern and dynamic learning environment. OWTC is poised to continue its mission of providing high-quality, career-focused education, thanks to the generous support of the Miller Family Foundation.

This donation represents a significant investment in the future of Ogden-Weber Technical College and the Weber County community. It reinforces the commitment to providing students with the skills needed to succeed in the modern workforce and to build a brighter future for the region.

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
