Prime Day is just around the corner, and for college students, it’s the perfect opportunity to snag essential dorm room gear at unbeatable prices. Don’t let those expensive “dorm room must-haves” lists scare you! With a little savvy shopping, you can outfit your space with everything you need without emptying your bank account.

Here’s what to look out for during Prime Day:

  1. The Bedtime Basics:

Mattress topper: A good night’s sleep is crucial for surviving college. Upgrade your dorm bed with a comfy memory foam or gel mattress topper. Look for deals on popular brands like Zinus or Lucid.

Bedding: Don’t forget the sheets, blankets, and pillows! Stock up on cozy and affordable options from brands like Mellanni or Utopia Bedding.

Decorative pillows: Add some personality to your bed with patterned or colorful throw pillows. Check out brands like AmazonBasics or Pillowfort for affordable and stylish choices.

  1. The Tech Essentials:

Laptop: If you’re in the market for a new laptop, Prime Day is the perfect time to snag a deal. Look for student-friendly laptops with good battery life and storage capacity.

Headphones: Whether you need noise-cancelling headphones for studying or just some good earbuds for listening to music, there are sure to be great deals on popular brands like Anker or JBL.

Portable charger: Never let your phone die again with a powerful portable charger. Keep an eye out for discounted chargers from brands like Anker or RAVPower.

  1. The Organizational Saviors:

Under-the-bed storage: Maximize your limited dorm space with under-the-bed storage bins. Look for deals on brands like Rubbermaid or Sterilite.

Desk organizers: Keep your study area tidy with desktop organizers and trays. Brands like AmazonBasics and SimpleHouseware offer affordable options.

Wall-mounted shelves: Add extra storage space without taking up valuable floor space with wall-mounted shelves. Check out deals on brands like IKEA or SONGMICS.

  1. The Comfort and Convenience Must-Haves:

Mini fridge: A mini fridge is a lifesaver for storing snacks and drinks. Look for discounted models from brands like Haier or Frigidaire.

Microwave: Microwave meals are a college student’s best friend. Check out deals on compact microwave ovens from brands like Toshiba or Hamilton Beach.

Coffee maker: Fuel your late-night study sessions with a simple and affordable coffee maker. Look for deals on brands like Mr. Coffee or Cuisinart.

Pro Tip: Before Prime Day, create a wishlist of desired items and set price alerts for them. This will allow you to quickly snatch up deals as they appear and avoid missing out on the best offers.

Remember, Prime Day is a marathon, not a sprint. Take your time, compare prices, and make sure you’re getting the best deal possible. With a little planning and patience, you can equip your dorm room with all the essentials without breaking the bank. Happy shopping!

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
