In the ever-evolving landscape of higher education, alumni play a crucial role in shaping the future. One such dedicated individual is making waves in Pennsylvania, demonstrating how graduates can give back to their alma mater and beyond.

Meet Sarah Thompson, a visionary leader and proud alumna of Penn State University‘s Class of 2005. After a successful career in educational technology, Sarah has returned to her roots with a mission: to revolutionize higher education in the Keystone State.

Sarah’s journey began with a simple question: “How can we make Pennsylvania’s higher education system more accessible, innovative, and relevant for the 21st century?” This inquiry sparked a series of groundbreaking initiatives that are now transforming campuses across the state.

One of Sarah’s key contributions is the “Tech for All” program. This initiative aims to bridge the digital divide by ensuring that every student in Pennsylvania’s higher education institutions has access to cutting-edge technology. From AI-powered learning assistants to virtual reality labs, Sarah’s program is equipping students with the tools they need to thrive in an increasingly digital world.

But Sarah’s vision extends beyond technology. She’s also spearheading efforts to revamp curriculum design, advocating for more interdisciplinary programs that prepare students for the jobs of tomorrow. Her “Future-Ready Graduates” initiative encourages universities to collaborate with industry leaders, ensuring that academic programs align with real-world needs.

Perhaps most importantly, Sarah is championing inclusivity and diversity in higher education. Through mentorship programs and targeted scholarships, she’s working to increase access to higher education for underrepresented groups across Pennsylvania.

The impact of Sarah’s work is already evident. Enrollment rates are up, student satisfaction scores are soaring, and Pennsylvania’s universities are climbing national rankings. But for Sarah, this is just the beginning.

“We’re laying the foundation for a brighter future,” she says. “By investing in our students today, we’re investing in Pennsylvania’s tomorrow.”

As we look to the future of higher education in Pennsylvania, it’s clear that alumni like Sarah Thompson are leading the charge. Their passion, expertise, and dedication are shaping a new era of learning – one that promises to be more inclusive, innovative, and impactful than ever before.

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
