Spread the love

Philadelphia’s environs feature some of the East Coast’s most upscale family resorts.

The city is conveniently located near a wide variety of world-class resorts in the Mid-Atlantic, from swanky urban coves to oceanfront hotels.

However, with so many potential vacation spots to choose from, you may need some time to find the ideal one for your group.

Guests of all ages, but especially those between the ages of three and twelve, will enjoy the indoor waterpark at this resort, which spans more than 70,000 square feet of space.

  1. Great Wolf Lodge Poconos

Who should stay here

Great Wolf Lodge is the most family-friendly and entertaining resort in the Philadelphia area.

Fun for kids of all ages, but especially those between the ages of three and twelve, the resort’s indoor waterpark spans more than 70,000 square feet.

Your loved ones can spend hours playing on the park’s long lazy river and thrilling slides.

Additional exciting activities are available at this resort to keep your children entertained.

Favorites include:

  • A Technicolor game room.
  • A 10-pin bowling alley.
  • Interactive laser games.
  • A Build-a-Bear workshop.

Distance from Philadelphia

Just two hours from Philadelphia, this is a top-rated destination for families.

Driving north on I-476 is the quickest route from Philadelphia to the resort.

The trip takes 1 hour and 49 minutes and covers 103.5 miles.

  1. Bear Creek Mountain Resort

Who should stay here

Bear Creek in the Lehigh Valley is a great weekend getaway with its convenient proximity to Philadelphia.

The resort’s 300+ mountainous acres mean plenty of things to do in the area all year.

This resort is open all year, so even the most daring preteens and teenagers will find something to do.

Acres of trails, slopes, and terrain parks transform the region into a snowboarder’s or skier’s paradise every winter.

In the summer, tourists can do mountain biking, hiking, and water sports at the lake.

It also features a spa, restaurants, and swimming pools that are all suitable for families.

Distance from Philadelphia

This hotel, located not far from Philadelphia, is ideal for families looking to get away from it all in the great outdoors.

Taking I-476 N, the trip to the resort from Philadelphia takes 1 hour and 8 minutes and covers 57.3 miles. Lodge at the Garden of Eden

  1. Eden Resort and Suites

Who should stay here

Do you wish to share the splendor of the Amish culture with your children?

My recommendation is that you stay at Eden Resort and Suites.

The resort’s location makes it an ideal home base from which to discover nearby attractions like Dutch Wonderland and the nearby Amish community.

Guests traveling with children will find a wide variety of fun activities available at the resort.

Among its many amenities is a recreation area with a playground and a place to have a picnic.

The resort’s heated outdoor pool and the Kidz Water Zone are the season’s top draws.

Distance from Philadelphia

Eden’s prime location and other appealing features make it an apparent frontrunner compared to other Philadelphia family resorts.

To reach the resort from Philadelphia quickly, take Interstate 76 West.

The average travel time to cover the distance of 77 miles is 1 hour and 20 minutes.

  1. Skytop Lodge

Who should stay here

The Skytop Lodge is a beautiful vacation spot for people of all ages.

The resort’s stunning views and castle-like architecture will please your Instagram-obsessed preteens and teenagers.

Paddle boarding, canoeing, and other water sports are many teen-friendly options.

Want to take your baby or toddler on a trip?

True or false?

A babysitting service is available at the resort so parents can have some time to themselves.

Furthermore, children will enjoy their puzzles, board games, and outdoor play equipment.

Distance from Philadelphia

Within three hours of Philadelphia, Skytop is one of the best family resorts.

It takes 2 hours and 10 minutes via I-476 N to reach the resort.

The trip is a total of 117.3 miles in length.

  1. Ocean Place Resort & Spa

Who should stay here

Ocean Place Resort is the ideal destination for fun and relaxing family vacation.

It is conveniently located near the beach and offers plenty of entertainment for the whole tribe.

All kids will blast at the kids’ club and on the beach.

Live music, happy hour, pool tables, and movie nights are some of the resort’s many appealing features for adults.

Distance from Philadelphia

From Philadelphia, there are numerous options for traveling to the resort.

Due to its swiftness, I-95 North has become our go-to highway.

Traveling the 78.9 miles will take approximately 1 hour and 26 minutes.

  1. Mountain Laurel Resort

Who should stay here

When deciding who to book a room at the Mountain Laurel Resort, ask yourself the following

Are you seeking a low-cost, kid-friendly resort in the Philadelphia area?

The Mountain Laurel Resort is a great place to stay.

It’s not just the low rates; the resort also has plenty to do to keep the whole family entertained.

This all-inclusive resort has private balconies, swimming pools, and a large spa.

In addition, it’s close to several tourist hotspots like the Bear Mountain Butterfly Sanctuary and Hawks Falls.

Distance from Philadelphia

From Philadelphia, take I-476 North to reach your destination.

Driving the 94.2 miles will take about 1 hour and 34 minutes.

  1. The Kartrite Resort and Indoor Waterpark

Who should stay here

The world of Kartrite is a magical playground for young children.

This resort features New York’s largest indoor waterpark with swimming pools, a surf simulator, slides, and rides.

Moreover, there is a wide variety of activities available at the resort that everyone in your family can enjoy.

We enjoy the available VR games, bowling alley, high ropes course, and laser tag.

Also, I failed to mention that there is a massive arcade with more than a hundred games.

Distance from Philadelphia

From Philadelphia, drive north on I-95 for 177 miles to reach the resort.

The expected travel time to the resort is 2 hours and 50 minutes.

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
