Spread the love

Your classroom should be brimming with love and hearts on February 14 (and perhaps a little sugar!). These Valentine’s Day books are ideal for introducing your kids to many types of love.

  1. Celebrating Valentine’s Day by Shannon Anderson

This is similar to a collection of Valentine’s Day literature. Children are taught about history, customs, folklore, and other issues. They will also be offered ideas on how to commemorate the anniversary on their own.

  1. Love Grows Everywhere by Barry Timms

This tale about a farmer’s daughter and the new lad in town, who desperately needs a companion, explores the many different types of love.

  1. Valentines Day Jitters by Julie Danneberg

Despite Mrs. Hartwell’s best efforts, her class’s Valentine’s Day party falls flat. She is nervous, but her pupils soon let her know how much fun they are having and how much they value her.

  1. Smooch!: A Picture Book Celebrating the Enduring Power of Love by Karen K

There are Valentine’s Day books to read all year long, and this is one of them. It’s a book full of interesting characters and delightful rhyming poetry. Kids are taught that kissing can symbolize the love that unites us all.

  1. The ABCs of Love by Rose Rossner

In this board book, each letter of the alphabet is represented by a kind word. You can use it with older children, but toddlers will love it. Ask them to come up with their own tender words for each letter.

  1. What Is Love? by Mac Barnett

When a young kid asks his grandma, “What Is Love?” she sends him into the world to find out. He discovers that love is unique to each individual but essential to everyone.

  1. I Am Love: A Book of Compassion by Susan Verde

Books from the I Am series might help your students become more attentive. In this story, children discover how love may help them get through tough times. Yoga for children to practice is also included.

  1. One Love by Cedella Marley

In this picture book adapted by Bob Marley’s oldest daughter, his cherished song comes to life. You can read this aloud or teach your children to sing along.

  1. Love Around the World by Alli Brydon

We all express love differently, but it is a universal emotion. Travel the globe to discover Welsh love spoons, henna designs on Indian brides, and more.

  1. Happy Valentine’s Day, Curious George! by N. Di Angelo

As he learns about Valentine’s Day, Curious George has a variety of fun adventures. This interactive fold-out flap book is guaranteed to become a school favorite.

  1. Love from the Crayons by Drew Daywalt and Oliver Jeffers

From The Day the Crayons Quit, our favorite characters are returning. They are studying love this time around.

  1. The Dinosaurs Valentines Day by Jessica Brady

To express his affection for each of his friends in a unique Valentine’s card, Logan the dinosaur draws inspiration from his heart.

  1. The Invisible String by Patrice Karst

A revised edition of the cherished classic, with an author’s afterword. One of those Valentine’s Day books illustrates the unseen relationships we all share with our loved ones.

  1. The Day it Rained Hearts – Felicia Bond

When it showers hearts, Cornelia Augusta can’t believe it. She grabs several presents to give her friends as Valentine’s Day gifts.

  1. A Little Spot of Love by Diane Alber

Is there a way you can easily express your affection for the people in your life? It’s all in Spot’s examples, which range from listening and kindness to high fives and embraces.

  1. The Love Letter by Anika Aldamuy Denise

An anonymous love letter found by Hedgehog, Bunny, and Squirrel sets off a chain reaction of feelings. Intriguing.

  1. How Do I Love Thee? by Jennifer Adams

With gorgeous illustrations and kid-friendly text, Elizabeth Barrett Browning’s well-known love poem is reimagined. Our favorite Valentine’s Day books are all from this author!

  1. Sealed With a Kiss by Beth Ferry

The seal is new to the National Zoo and eager to make new friends, but she does not receive a warm welcome until a shrewd sparrow persuades the other animals to give her a special gift.

  1. Hugs and Kisses for the Grouchy Ladybug by Eric Carle

Every ladybug, no matter how grumpy, deserves affection! This charming story’s theme is making the world a gentler place, one friend at a time.

  1. Goggles Monster Valentine by Diana Murray

Google may never complete its creation and of the ideal Valentine for his “beast” companion Snarling. Certainly not if he can’t rein in his insatiable appetite!

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
