Brain Science & Research: Maximize EdTech ROI for Schools

Schools and other educational facilities are starting to heavily rely on tech for their teaching needs. Most learners have started studying online, using tech instead of educators for their learning.

With this being said, schools should ensure that they invest in suitable tech to achieve the best ROI (Return On Investment) possible. In other words, they should buy education technology that will achieve the best results in the classroom and provide learners with the most help. They can do this by using brain science and evidence-based research before spending money on any equipment.

Education Technology

Education technology is a term used to describe a machine or electronic device used in the classroom for an educational purpose. Because of education technology, there are lots of apps and tools, such as Pedagogue and YouTube, that learners can now use to enhance their learning.

As we have already discussed, most schools and educational facilities use tech to meet their academic needs. There are lots of advantages to using tech in the classroom. For instance, education technology brings versatility to the table, ensuring that learners with different learning styles have their needs met during each lesson.

Why Schools Need to Choose Tech for the Best ROI

Even though education technology has so much potential in the classroom, schools need to take the necessary steps to invest in the correct tech. For instance, if the institution buys education technology that can only serve one purpose and only be used for a specific subject, it will negatively impact the institution. On the other hand, if the school purchases education technology that can be used by various educators for different subjects, they will achieve a high ROI. The greater the ROI, the happier and more successful their learners will be.

Brain Science and Evidence-Based Research

To achieve the best ROI on education technology, schools should rely on brain science and evidence-based research. In other words, they should research how successful a specific piece of tech has been in various educational institutions. This information could then help an institution decide whether or not they should invest in that education technology.

More so, schools could use information that they have on their learners to determine whether a particular piece of tech will benefit them. For instance, if most learners struggle with geometry, the school will likely achieve a better ROI if they invest in education technology for mathematics.

Conclusion

Most schools and educational facilities rely on tech for their academic needs. However, they need to invest in appropriate education technology to achieve the best ROI possible.

Educational institutions can do this by using science and evidence-based research. In other words, they can use information that they have on their learners to determine whether or not a particular piece of tech will be beneficial to them.

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
