Overview of Evergreen State College

The Evergreen State College is a public liberal arts college situated in Olympia, Washington. Students at the institution receive written evaluations from faculty, instead of grades. The curriculum is interdisciplinary, and students take a team-taught “program” centered on a theme, not individual classes. The institution has a large selection of undergraduate and graduate degree programs for students to choose from. A robust student/faculty ratio backs students, and professors take a personalized approach to the teaching and learning process. Outside of the classroom, students will find plenty of opportunities to engage with the campus community via the university’s many clubs and organizations. The Evergreen State Geoducks play in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). The teams at Evergreen primarily play in the Cascade Collegiate Conference.

Students with unique talents and accomplishments can still receive strong consideration even if their GPAs are outside of the admissions offices mean range. About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
