Fort Worth’s La Gran Biblioteca recently hosted a bustling College Fair, drawing hundreds of eager students and their families to explore the exciting possibilities of higher education. The event, organized in partnership with local colleges and universities, aimed to enlighten students on the diverse pathways to success after high school.

The fair featured an array of information booths, each representing a different institution. Students were able to speak directly with representatives, learn about program offerings, financial aid opportunities, and campus life. Interactive activities, such as mock college applications and scholarship workshops, further engaged attendees and provided valuable insights into the college application process.

“We are thrilled to host this event, providing our community with access to essential information about higher education,” said Maria Garcia, Director of La Gran Biblioteca. “Our goal is to empower students to make informed decisions about their future and explore the vast opportunities available to them.”

The event proved particularly impactful for first-generation college students and those navigating the college application process for the first time. Many students expressed gratitude for the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the different paths to higher education and the support available to them.

“I’m so glad I came,” remarked one student. “Talking to the college representatives and learning about the scholarships helped me feel more confident about applying to college.”

The La Gran Biblioteca College Fair served as a beacon of hope and inspiration for the community, highlighting the transformative power of education and the commitment to fostering brighter futures for all students. As the event drew to a close, it left behind a ripple effect of motivation and excitement, ensuring that the pursuit of higher education remained a tangible and achievable goal for the students of Fort Worth.

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
