During these unprecedented times, it’s crucial to ensure that children stay active and engaged even when they are at home. Virtual P.E. resources have become a popular solution to encourage kids to stay physically active while following social distancing guidelines. In this article, we will explore some of our favorite virtual P.E. resources that can help keep kids moving at home.

1. GoNoodle: GoNoodle is a fun and engaging online platform that offers a wide range of exercise videos, dance-alongs, and mindfulness activities. With its catchy music and colorful animations, GoNoodle provides an interactive way to get kids up and moving. Whether it’s following a dance routine or practicing yoga, GoNoodle has something for every child.

2. Just Dance Now: Just Dance Now is a popular dance game that can be played on smartphones, tablets, or computers. Kids can connect their devices to a TV or computer screen and follow the on-screen dance moves. With a vast library of songs and dance routines, Just Dance Now offers a fun and energetic way to get kids grooving at home.

3. Cosmic Kids Yoga: Yoga is not only beneficial for physical well-being but also helps in promoting mindfulness and calmness. Cosmic Kids Yoga offers yoga adventures that combine storytelling, mindfulness, and yoga poses. Through these interactive sessions, kids can participate in exciting tales while practicing various yoga poses.

4. Nike Training Club: Nike Training Club is an excellent resource for older children and teenagers who are looking for more challenging workout options. The app offers a wide range of workouts, including strength training, cardio, and yoga. Kids can choose from different durations and difficulty levels to find a workout that suits their needs.

5. Outdoor Scavenger Hunts: While it’s essential to promote virtual P.E. resources, incorporating outdoor activities can also be a great way to keep kids moving. Designing outdoor scavenger hunts can encourage children to explore their surroundings while engaging in physical activity. Parents can create a list of items or clues for kids to find, which can include elements from nature or objects around the house.

It’s important to remember that every child is unique, and what works for one may not work for another. It’s a good idea to try out different resources and see what resonates with your child. Virtual P.E. resources provide a fun and interactive way for kids to stay active and engaged during these challenging times, ensuring their physical and mental well-being.

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
