Foundational Reading Apps That You Will Love

Are you searching for basic reading products that you can use with your learners? Check out the definitive list that we made. Who did we miss?

Whooo’s Reading – The objective of Whooo’s Reading is accelerated reading comprehension and improved writing abilities. By using open-ended questions as an alternative of the standard true/false and multiple-choice style, learners are required to think independently about texts. The Whooo’s Reading program automatically reminds learners to enhance their writing by asking them to cite evidence or answer all the parts of a question. Educators can monitor learners’ reading with automatic quiz results, graded by the Whooo’s Reading product, available in the educator dashboard. To increase learner motivation, learners earn Wisdom Coins for reading and writing.

BiblioNasium– A website exclusively for kids between the ages of 6 and 13. It aims to promote the reading habit among kid’s. Equipped with peer and parental controls, it presents an effective and stimulating program for the user. Using this product, you can adapt reading to fit the kid’s needs, monitor his/her reading log, and help the kid discover a variety of reading genres. Reading data is saved online and is always accessible.

PocketPhonics Stories – This is an interactive phonics product that teaches kids to read. It provides individual supervision in a class setting. After setting up the class, educators can selecta handwriting style, case, and six letters that kids can learn per lesson. After learning the letters, learners move on to reading with them, along with a few sight words. At the end of the book, learners take tests on word and picture recognition and progress after completion.

Curriculet–  This reading product aims at overhauling and changing the way kids study and the way educators teach. Programmed questions and instructions pop up while a kid is reading a text from the class. Using this tool, educators can personalize the reading experience for their learners; it also helps them to make and share the contents of their study digitally.

 Children A-Z– Kids can select from a library of eQuizzes, eBooks, and hundreds of developmentally appropriate eResources by using the Children A-Z mobile product. Learners can comprehensive corresponding quizzes to enhance their comprehension abilities and use interactive annotation tools that aid in the development of close reading abilities. Children A-Z mobile product is a must-have for children that have access to Raz-Children, Science A-Z, Headsprout, or Raz-plus.

Raz-Children– Raz-children is a website built to help educators track their learners’ progress in level-based reading challenges that span 29 interactive levels. On the site, educators can easily track each learner’s progress with the eQuizes comprehension tests that come with the over 400 eBooks. More books are added every month. Learners can be digitally assessed via the online records generated by the site after the learner take an eQuiz. The product always aims to strengthen the connection between home and class by allowing learners to be connected to the learning resources.

Reading Raven– This is an educational game designed to help children build a solid foundation in reading. It makes use of engaging, fun step-by-step reading lessons. This game enables the user to progress using self-paced reading activities. Kids go on reading adventures with fly eating frogs, circus acrobats, underwater sea creatures, and more. This product uses kids’ imagination to make reading adventures that help solidify their reading abilities and strengthen their imagination.

Reading Trainer – Reading Trainer helps users to not only read texts of all kinds faster and more effectively but also with great retention. It is designed with a PowerReader to double your reading speed by an average of 143 percent within 10 days. Combining the iPhone with this new product provides the ideal product to achieve measurable results with a minimum of effort.

Reading Kingdom– The Reading Kingdom is an online program that instructs kids between the ages of four and ten years old to read and write to a third-grade standard. This reading program makes available six new skill models of reading methods that use elements of phonics and whole language to teach abilities that make reading and writing easy and successful. The product was built to circumvent the problems of phonics and whole language.

Monkey Word School Adventure – The Monkey Word School Adventure product uses six exercises to help kids learn the basics of reading using phonics and word groups. The product enables kids to enter their names to personalize the jungle-like experience, led by the Word Monkey. The completion of a round is rewarded with animals and plants that kids can add to their terrarium. The product supports up to three accounts, so different kids can use the same product.

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
