Introduction:

Teaching online has become an increasingly popular option for individuals looking for a flexible side gig. With platforms like VIPKid providing opportunities to teach English to students abroad, it’s important to dispel some common myths surrounding this line of work. In this article, we will explore five myths about teaching for VIPKid and explain why it might actually be your next lucrative side gig.

Myth 1: Teaching English online is only for certified teachers.

Contrary to popular belief, you don’t need to be a certified teacher to teach English online with VIPKid. While having a teaching certification can be beneficial, VIPKid values individuals with strong English language skills and the ability to engage with young learners. They provide comprehensive training and support to ensure their teachers can deliver high-quality lessons.

Myth 2: VIPKid only operates during regular school hours.

One of the major advantages of teaching for VIPKid is the flexibility it offers. Unlike traditional teaching jobs, VIPKid operates 24/7, catering to students in China. This means that you can choose your own schedule and teach at times that are convenient for you. Whether you prefer early mornings, late nights, or weekends, VIPKid allows you to create a schedule that fits your lifestyle.

Myth 3: Teaching online is not as rewarding as in-person teaching.

While teaching online may lack face-to-face interaction, it offers a host of unique rewards. With VIPKid, you have the opportunity to connect with students from different parts of the world, learn about their cultures, and make a positive impact on their English language skills. Additionally, the convenience of working from home and eliminating commute time can greatly enhance work-life balance.

Myth 4: VIPKid doesn’t provide enough support for their teachers.

VIPKid is renowned for its comprehensive support system for teachers. From the initial onboarding process to ongoing professional development, VIPKid is committed to ensuring that their teachers feel confident and supported. They offer regular workshops, mentorship programs, and an active online community where teachers can connect, share resources, and seek advice.

Myth 5: The earning potential with VIPKid is limited.

Teaching for VIPKid can be a financially rewarding side gig. While the exact earnings vary based on factors like teaching experience and the number of classes taught, VIPKid offers a competitive pay rate. On top of the base pay, there are opportunities for performance incentives and bonuses, allowing teachers to increase their earnings. With the ability to set your own schedule and work as many hours as you choose, VIPKid presents a flexible opportunity to supplement your income.

Conclusion:

Teaching for VIPKid provides a flexible and rewarding side gig for individuals looking to make a difference while earning income. By debunking common misconceptions, we have shown that teaching online with VIPKid is accessible to many and offers numerous benefits. Whether you’re a certified teacher looking for extra income or someone passionate about education, VIPKid might just be your next exciting side gig. Embrace the opportunity to connect with bright young learners, explore new cultures, and enjoy the flexibility of working from home.

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
