Colleges and universities in Georgia have a solid history of preparing graduates in the fields of technology, research, and agriculture. You can choose a school in the bustling Atlanta metro region, or one of Georgia’s smaller and historic cities, like Savannah.

Here are the best colleges and universities in Georgia in 2022.

  1. Georgia Institute of Technology. This school is a popular choice for students entering the fields of mechanical engineering and/or business management. Be prepared to work hard…classes are extremely rigorous.
  2. The University of Georgia has the distinction of being the oldest state university in the United States! It’s also in the humming college town of Athens, where there’s no shortage of concerts and other fun events.
  3. Emory University. This private school is located right in the busy hub of downtown Atlanta. It has prestigious, highly ranked programs in business, law, and medicine. The school is notable for its focus on research without compromising quality teaching.
  4. Georgia College and State University. This small, friendly campus is rated highly for comfortable dorms and a busy social scene. The most popular majors are nursing and business administration.
  5. Berry College stands out for a large and lovely campus, extending over 27,000 scenic acres. It guarantees students work experience through on-campus jobs. Small class sizes mean that students get lots of individual attention.
  6. Toccoa Falls College features a wooded, rural campus and a Christian-based curriculum. The school combines career preparation with spiritual development, using scenic mountains as a backdrop.
  7. Agnes Scott College is a women’s college offering top-ranked professors and an intimate 9:1 student-faculty ratio. The student population is highly diverse, and all students participate in global training through their innovative “Summit” program.
  8. The University of North Georgia is a senior military school with five different campuses spread across 31 counties. It is known for its study abroad program. The most popular majors include biology, nursing, and management.

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
