10 Best Family Resorts in North Carolina

It may seem simple to pick a vacation destination, but finding a beach resort that welcomes families or a North Carolina family resort that can keep everyone occupied can be challenging.

But don’t worry; North Carolina is home to many fantastic resorts that are welcoming to families and full of exciting activities.

My preferred vacation spots are detailed below, along with an explanation of why each site fits my stress-relieving travel profile.

For this reason, I have compiled a list of the best 10 North Carolina family resorts for 2022.

  1. Ocracoke Harbor Inn

The Ocracoke Harbor Inn is conveniently situated close to the port, making it an excellent choice for a family vacation at the beach.

North Carolina is home to many family-friendly mountain resorts, but sometimes you want to relax on the beach instead.

The Harbor Inn is a blue haven with simple amenities that are more than made up for by what’s on offer in the immediate vicinity.

In addition, the included breakfast is fantastic and will please even the pickiest of young travelers.

  1. Hilton Garden Inn Roanoke Rapids

The Hilton Gardens Inn has a welcoming, homey vibe, and the rooms are spacious enough to divide up and give the kids their own space.

The free wi-fi and indoor heated pool are excellent, but the 24-hour rooftop market is where you should spend your time. It has everything you need, including breakfast items that are guaranteed fresh.

A separate kid-friendly family room is also available.

  1. Sanderling Resort

Sanderling Resort is a massive hotel that looks impressive but has a warm and welcoming atmosphere inside, thanks to its high-end amenities.

A huge pool, a separate room for families, and fun activities for kids make this the ideal beach vacation spot for those searching for a little extra pampering.

There are family-friendly events like s’mores nights by the fire and regular gigs by local musicians.

If you’re planning a more extended stay at the resort, you’ll appreciate the free wi-fi throughout the property and the conveniences like a laundry room.

  1. JuneBug Retro Resort

The JuneBug Retro Resort lives up to its name by providing a fantastic vintage “campfire” atmosphere, complete with the comforts of high-quality rooms.

They have a fantastic playground setup for kids under the age of twelve.

Outings to the nearby mountains, or even a leisurely walking trail, are sure to be a hit with older kids.

In place of a large, intimidating “resort,” you will find cozy, home-like accommodations.

Each room has free internet and a mini fridge/microwave.

  1. Hampton Inn and Suites Raleigh/Cary-I-40 (PNC Arena)

The breakfast buffet at the Raleigh Hampton Inn and Suites is varied enough to satisfy even my picky eaters, making it an excellent choice for a family vacation.

Rooms include free Wi-Fi and minifridges, and guests staying for an extended period can take advantage of the hotel’s other amenities, like the laundry room.

  1. Cascades Mountain Resort

The rooms and the surrounding area at Cascades Mountain Resort aren’t particularly stunning, but if you want to wake up in the lap of luxury in the middle of the mountains, it’s a great choice.

Excellent for nature-loving children; less for younger children due to a lack of “kid-specific” programming.

Cascades Mountain Resort is well worth the cost because of the abundance of breathtaking natural scenery in the surrounding area.

There are a variety of excellent walking trails in the area, both for beginners and more experienced hikers.

  1. High Hampton Resort

Sunsets at the High Hampton Resort are among the most stunning you’ll ever see.

Guests of all ages can enjoy guided nature walks and organized activities at this beautiful location.

The hotel provides all the standard conveniences, such as free wi-fi and in-room kitchenettes with refrigerators.

  1. Homewood Suites by Hilton Raleigh-Durham AP

Homewood Suites is a luxurious place that’s perfect for families, especially those with teenagers and older children.

Kids over five can use the hotel’s family room, while older kids can splash around in the pool or stay inside and use the free wi-fi.

If you’re an adult traveling alone, you can take advantage of the hotel’s 24-hour lounge and bar or order room service.

The resort also provides additional services, such as laundry facilities.

  1. River’s Edge Treehouse Resort

This unique getaway takes place at the River’s Edge Treehouse Resort.

As one of the few resorts of its kind, the Treehotel brings you as close to nature as possible while still providing the comforts of a first-rate hotel.

There are themed s’mores nights and adventure walks available for kids, teens, and adults to enjoy.

It’s one of the most peaceful and beautiful places to take the kids on a vacation you’ll never forget.

  1. Kimpton Cardinal Hotel

Kimpton Cardinal Hotel is one of the best places to stay in North Carolina for a family vacation because it offers various activities and services beyond those found at most resorts.

Bowling alleys and a fully stocked game room provide hours of entertainment for kids and adults alike.

The resort provides standard conveniences, and guests are encouraged to explore the resort’s dining options.

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
