Raleigh, NC – Saint Augustine’s University (SAU), a historically Black university (HBCU) located in Raleigh, North Carolina, has successfully maintained its accreditation status from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). This significant achievement underscores SAU’s unwavering commitment to providing a high-quality educational experience for its students.

The reaffirmation of accreditation follows a rigorous review process that examined various aspects of the university, including its academic programs, faculty, resources, and institutional effectiveness.

“This reaffirmation is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our faculty, staff, and students,” stated Dr. Christine L. Cole, President of Saint Augustine’s University. “It is a reflection of our commitment to academic excellence and our unwavering focus on providing our students with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in today’s competitive world.”

Maintaining accreditation is a crucial milestone for any institution of higher learning. It signifies that the institution meets the highest standards of quality and provides a valuable educational experience for its students. For SAU, this achievement holds particular significance as it further solidifies its position as a leading HBCU in the region and beyond.

The university’s commitment to student success extends beyond the classroom. SAU offers a variety of support services, including academic advising, career counseling, and financial aid, to ensure that students have the resources they need to thrive.

“We are incredibly proud to have earned this reaffirmation of our accreditation,” said Dr. Cole. “It is a recognition of our commitment to providing our students with a transformative educational experience that prepares them for fulfilling lives and successful careers.”

This accomplishment serves as a powerful reminder of SAU’s commitment to its mission of educating students to become leaders and changemakers in their communities and the world. With this reaffirmation of accreditation, the university is poised for continued success in the years to come.

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
