Sacramento, CA – In a landmark move, the state of California and NVIDIA, a leading AI technology company, have announced a groundbreaking partnership to accelerate the adoption and development of artificial intelligence (AI) across various sectors. This unprecedented collaboration will see the two entities working closely together to build a robust AI ecosystem within California, fostering innovation and economic growth.

The partnership will leverage NVIDIA’s cutting-edge AI technology and expertise with California’s vast resources and diverse industries. The collaboration will focus on several key areas:

AI Workforce Development: The program will invest in training and education programs to equip Californians with the skills needed for AI-driven jobs, addressing the growing demand for AI professionals. This includes supporting initiatives to create AI-focused curriculum at schools and universities, as well as providing mentorship and training programs for current workers seeking to transition into AI roles.

AI Research and Innovation: By fostering collaboration between California universities, research institutions, and NVIDIA, the partnership will encourage groundbreaking AI research and development. This will involve joint research projects, access to NVIDIA’s cutting-edge AI hardware and software, and the creation of dedicated AI research centers.

AI Infrastructure: Recognizing the importance of robust infrastructure for AI development, the collaboration will focus on building a state-of-the-art AI computing platform within California. This platform will provide researchers, developers, and businesses with access to powerful computing resources and specialized AI tools, enabling them to push the boundaries of AI innovation.

AI for Social Good: The partnership will prioritize using AI to address critical societal challenges. This includes utilizing AI to improve healthcare outcomes, enhance environmental sustainability, and optimize public safety and infrastructure.

“This collaboration is a pivotal step towards making California a global leader in AI,” said Governor Gavin Newsom. “By combining NVIDIA’s technological prowess with California’s innovation ecosystem, we will create an environment where AI can thrive and benefit all Californians.”

Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, echoed these sentiments, stating, “California has always been a hub of innovation, and we are excited to partner with the state to build a world-class AI ecosystem. This collaboration will not only accelerate AI advancements but also ensure that California remains at the forefront of this transformative technology.”

This partnership marks a significant moment in the evolution of AI and its impact on society. The collaboration between California and NVIDIA sets a precedent for other states and countries, demonstrating the potential of public-private partnerships to drive AI adoption and benefit entire communities. By harnessing the power of AI, California and NVIDIA are poised to create a brighter future for all.

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
