Congratulations! If you represent a college or university that is included in this list, please collect your seal below.

The official seal of the University of Illinois Chicago.

Deciding which college to attend can be a daunting task. For many, it will be the most important decision that they make in their lives. To make an informed decision, you have to consider a lot of variables, such as cost of attendance, financial aid, student-teacher ratio, academics, student life, and more. These factors will either positively or negatively impact the quality of education that you receive.

Do you want to acquire a bachelor’s degree in computer science but don’t know what institution you should attend? Well, if you are as ambitious as I was in my late teens, then you want to attend a top school, instead of an average or mediocre one. Fortunately, we have already done the legwork for you. To help you find the right school for your interests and goals, we’ve compiled a list of 2022’s best bachelor’s in computer science programs.

What institution did we omit from this list? Leave your suggestions in the comment section below.

  1. University of California-Berkley, Berkeley, CA

Within its bachelor of science degree program, UC-Berkeley offers a concentration in computer science and engineering or electrical and computer engineering. Berkeley has a five-year bachelor/master’s degree program. A sampling of coursework includes computer architecture and engineering, feedback control systems, analog integrated circuits, and software engineering. For learners interested in programming, computer graphics and animation, or careers and computer research, the University of California-Berkeley is the place to be. Not only do Berkeley graduates mean $80,000 after graduation, but they are also prepared to be among the world’s top computer professionals.

  1. Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA

MIT’s electrical engineering and computer science degree program is the largest undergrad degree programs at MIT. Its prestigious faculty and academic rigor position its computer science degree program among the top in the world. MIT’s EECS department has four undergraduate majors centered around computer science. Learners focusing exclusively on computer science concentrate on making computer processing faster and more efficient. The EECS department allows flexibility for learners to engage a broad range of issues within its curriculum. Computer science classes include computation structures, introduction to algorithms, fundamentals of programming, and elements of software construction.

Starting salaries for MIT graduates with bachelor’s degrees in computer science mean $95,000! MIT prepares its learners for many careers, from working with software companies to creating video games.

  1. Cal Tech, Pasadena, CA

California Institute of Technology is a private institution with a CMS department that is among the top-rated programs in the United States. The undergrad degree program has two degree options. The bachelor in computer science gives learners mathematical and engineering foundations while also giving them flexibility to concentrate in other areas like graphics, databases, robotics, and networking. The course of study includes classes such as these: communication networks, computer graphics research, neural computation, and numerical algorithms and implementation.

Learners who want a degree in computer science that will give them to utilize computational thinking in many ways and across subjects should check out Cal Tech.

  1. Georgia Tech, Atlanta, GA

Georgia Tech’s College of Computing has a computer science degree that gives learners a solid foundation in the principles of computer science. The school has a bachelor of science (BS) in computer science and a bachelor of science (BS) in computational media. The BS in computer science trains learners to be computer specialists, innovators, and problem solvers. Georgia Tech’s holistic curriculum prepares learners beyond computer knowledge, helping them to be world leaders in computing. Classes include object orientation programming, data structures and algorithms, systems and networks, and data input/manipulation.

The bachelor’s degree program also offers undergrads research opportunities through its undergraduate research opportunities in computing (UROC) degree program. The UROC degree program connects learners with potential employers through job fairs. Its spring research symposium also enables learners to display their research for cash prizes.

  1. Harvard University, Cambridge, MA

Harvard has a bachelor of arts in computer science. The computer science degree program aims to help learners solve problems effectively using various methods. Learners can partake in research on software, graphics, networks, algorithms, and more. The degree program of study enables learners to combine their computer science studies with other interests such as psychology, economics, or even linguistics. Learners will find engaging classes such as discrete mathematics for computer science, systems programming and machine organization, privacy and technology, and computing hardware.

Learners who have already finished AP tests before entering Harvard may be interested in Harvard’s dual bachelor’s/master’s choice. The flexibility of Harvard’s BSc degree program and its research opportunities make it stand out as a top undergrad degree program to obtain a computer science degree.

  1. Stanford University, Stanford, CA

Stanford’s computer science degree program permits undergraduates to pursue interests like programming languages, graphics, databases, theory, robotics, and much more. Its undergrad degree program stands out by giving unique research opportunities, teaching opportunities, and internship and job opportunities. Learners are also able to pursue a BS and MS degree in computer science concurrently. Here’s a look at a few classes: parallel computing, hardware accelerators for machine learning, mining massive data sets, and computability and logic.

Learners looking for unique research opportunities, teaching opportunities, or jobs and internships, should check out Stanford’s undergrad degree program. Its computer science degree program prepares learners for work in their field or for graduate study at the masters or PhD level.

  1. University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI

The CS-Eng helps learners to develop software and examine algorithms. The computer science degree prepares learners to design the future by giving them a foundation in computer software, hardware, and theory. The CS-LSA also prepares learners by giving them an identical foundation to CS-Eng majors. The computer science degree program includes classes such as discrete mathematics, programming and elementary data structures. data structures and algorithms, and introduction to computer organization.

  1. Yale University, New Haven, CT

Yale’s department of computer science has a bachelor of science, a bachelor of arts, and a coupled bachelors/masters in computer science. The computer science degree offers an array of options for learners. About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
