Florida Gulf Coast University is a public university Situated in Fort Myers. Amongst the university’s five colleges, Business and Arts & STEM have the highest enrollments. The institution has a large selection of undergraduate and graduate degree programs for students to choose from. A robust student/faculty ratio backs students, and professors take a personalized approach to the teaching and learning process. Outside of the classroom, students will find plenty of opportunities to engage with the campus community via the university’s many clubs and organizations.

Overview of Florida Gulf Coast University Admissions

Florida Gulf Coast University accepts nearly two-thirds of applicants and has a moderately selective admissions process. Students whose SAT/ACT scores and GPA are within the institution’s requirements have a good chance of being admitted. Applicants should complete an online application, and send test scores from either the SAT or ACT and high school transcripts. Glowing recommendation letters can bolster your application, along with being involved with student organizations and attempting a challenging course load. Students with unique talents and accomplishments can still receive strong consideration even if their GPAs are outside the admission offices’ mean range. After applying, students will receive a message from an admissions counselor about the next steps of the application process. Admissions Data                        

During the 2018-19 admissions phase, FGCU had an acceptance rate of 65%.  For every 100 students who submitted applications, 65 students gained admission, making Florida Gulf Coast’s admissions process competitive.

SAT Requirements and Scores

During the 2018-19 admissions phase, 83% of admitted students provided SAT scores.

This admissions data reveals that most of FGCU’s admitted students fall within the top 35% on the SAT. 50% of students admitted to Florida Gulf Coast scored between 540 and 620 for the evidence-based reading and writing section, while 25% scored below 540 and 25% scored over 620. 50% of students scored between 520 and 590 on the math section, while 25% scored below 520, and 25% scored over 590. Students with a cumulative SAT score of 1210 or higher will have particularly competitive chances at Florida Gulf Coast.

ACT Requirements and Scores

During the 2018-19 admissions phase, 55% of admitted students provided ACT scores.

This admissions data reveals that most of Florida Gulf Coast’s admitted students fall within the top 42% on the ACT exam. The median 50% of admitted students received a cumulative ACT score between 21 and 25, while 25% scored over 25, and 25% scored below 21.

GPA

In 2019, the mean high school GPA of Florida Gulf Coast’s freshmen class was 3.86, and over 50% had GPAs of 3.75 and over. Successful applicants have A grades primarily.

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
