Introduction:

Dell is a widely recognized and popular brand known for its quality and reliable laptops. When buying a used Dell laptop or even keeping track of your own device, it’s essential to know the manufacture date. This article will guide you through finding the manufacture date on a Dell laptop.

Step 1: Locate the Service Tag

The first and most crucial step in finding the manufacture date on a Dell laptop is locating the Service Tag. The Service Tag is a unique alphanumeric identifier that provides specific information about your device.

To find the Service Tag on your Dell laptop, follow one of these methods:

a) Check the bottom of your laptop: The Service Tag is usually located underneath your laptop. It can be found on a sticker or printed directly onto the surface.

b) Use BIOS settings: Restart your computer and press F2 repeatedly as it starts up. This will take you to the BIOS settings, where the Service Tag should be displayed.

c) Use Command Prompt: Press Windows key + X and select ‘Command Prompt (Admin)’. Type ‘wmic bios get serialnumber’ (without quotes) and press Enter. The Service Tag will be displayed.

Step 2: Access Dell Support Website

Visit Dell’s support website at www.dell.com/support. Here, you can input the Service Tag to access specific information about your laptop, including its manufacturing date.

Step 3: Enter the Service Tag

On the Dell support homepage, you will see a field asking you to enter your Service Tag or Express Service Code. Type in the Service Tag that you found earlier and click ‘Submit’.

Step 4: Check Your Device Details

After submitting your Service Tag, you will be taken to a page containing details about your device’s hardware configuration, warranty information, drivers, and more. On this page, click on ‘System Configuration.’

Step 5: Find the Manufacture Date

Under the ‘System Configuration’ tab, look for ‘Ship Date’ or ‘Manufacture Date.’ This will be the date when your Dell laptop was manufactured.

Conclusion:

Knowing the manufacture date of a Dell laptop is essential for various reasons, such as determining warranty eligibility, tracking your device’s age, or verifying its authenticity. By following the steps mentioned above, you can easily find the manufacture date and be confident about your laptop’s credentials. So, go ahead and use this knowledge to make informed decisions on your Dell device.

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
