Middle School Assessment Apps That You Will Love

Are you searching for middle school assessment products that you can use with your learners? Check out the definitive list that we made. Who did we miss?

Bamboozle– Bamboozle is a free educational game that can be utilized to test cooperation and knowledge among learners. Learners do not need to make accounts or login to play. It can be projected onto a smartboard or a monitor. Learners can also use this product to assess their performance levels by themselves.

Zoom In– Zoom In contains 18 interactive, document-based inquiry units for American History classes. It is Zoom In’s goal to ensure that educators are challenging learners with authentic, engaging texts; working with learners to write explanatory and argumentative essays; teaching debate with claims and counterclaims, and ensuring learners use evidence, including period documents, to back up their ideas. Zoom In provides educators with assessment tools such as interactive rubrics to give personalized writing feedback to learners.

aPlus+ Results – aPlus+ Results presents accurate and up-to-date learner assessment results and associated achievement information. The interface is designed to provide relevant information and functionality customized for educators, learners, and administrators. It keeps educators up to date with the latest results and helps them find areas where learners need further development along with strategies.

Naiku Platform– Naiku Platform goes beyond traditional bubble sheet replacements for learner assessments; learners interactively communicate with the product to comprehensively digest the information that it passes. Every test becomes a lesson with the immediate feedback provided after each assessment session. This product features a confidence-based assessment, which lets learners assign a score to the level of confidence they have in their answers. It also enables them to offer a valid reason for the response they provide. Learner The reflection feature enables learners to re-examine their choices after they receive their papers from their educators; this helps them to internalize the results and the knowledge they have acquired.

Study Island – Study Island is an all-in-one practice website for learners to work on literacy, math, science, and social studies abilities. It is built around state standards, so regardless of your location, the content and practice provided on the website will align with your class teaching. Study Island is a great tool to use for high stakes testing preparation and provides real-time progress monitoring for educators and guardians. Beyond simple practice, Study Island can also be incorporated into class lessons for formative assessment and differentiation. It even enables educators to import NWEA MAP assessment information for individual learners and calculates a targeted learning path to fill in knowledge gaps!

JoeZoo– JoeZoo is a grading and feedback product that helps educators to make their feedback and grading to be more effective and hassle-free. It also guides learners in developing 21st-century abilities in all assignments without any hassle. JoeZoo is an AI (Artificial Intelligence) powered assessment product that was nominated for the 2015 Digital Innovation in Learning award.

EDaura – It is a mobile skill-based learning environment focused on improving learners’ abilities through robust formative and summative assessments. EDaura enables educators to measure learning outcomes and abilities to help learners develop and enhance throughout the course. It provides comprehensive assignment management from the creation process to the correction and publishing final stage.

Spiral – With Spiral’s suite of free educational products, educators can transform their classes into an interactive learning space. The educator can utilize apps to give quick formative assessments, help compile learner portfolios, facilitate group projects, and turn any video into a live chat with discussion questions. Learners simply need to have a device (smartphone, tablet, computer), and Spiral takes care of the rest, linking the devices and pushing out the educator-designed content. Educators can load pre-designed content or ask questions on the fly—Spiral can adapt to any teaching style. There is even a grade book section that educators can use to document summative assessments, record learner notes, and export to share with guardians. Spiral can be applied across grade levels and with any subject.

Edgenuity’s UpSmart – Combining adaptive assessments with targeted instruction grounded in rigorous academic standards, UpSmart gives every learner the specific instruction, practice, and support needed to master standards; and every educator an opportunity to extend class instruction to meet the individual needs of each learner, without adding time to their busy days. UpSmart is a learner-centered, supplemental program for grades 6-8 in math and English language arts designed to prepare learners for high-stakes tests, reinforce state standards with personalized and adaptive practice, assessments, and instruction, and provide ongoing data and analytics for educators, with standards-based reports that pinpoint specific abilities.

Lexia PowerUp Literacy– Lexia® PowerUp Literacy™ is made for middle school learners to help them master their reading abilities. Working with usual reading lessons, educators can use this product to fill in learning gaps, allowing learners to practice abilities such as comprehension, analyzation, evaluation, and comparison. It enables online and offline activity to be available for all learners’ learning needs and activity levels. This can be utilized in combination with Lexia® Core5® Reading and Lexia® RAPID™ Assessment to optimize reading experiences and reading groups in schools.

About Us

The Edvocate was created in 2014 to argue for shifts in education policy and organization in order to enhance the quality of education and the opportunities for learning afforded to P-20 students in America. What we envisage may not be the most straightforward or the most conventional ideas. We call for a relatively radical and certainly quite comprehensive reorganization of America’s P-20 system.

That reorganization, though, and the underlying effort, will have much to do with reviving the American education system, and reviving a national love of learning.  The Edvocate plans to be one of key architects of this revival, as it continues to advocate for education reform, equity, and innovation.
