A tactic used to allow students to process through grade levels quicker or at a younger age than usual. This can be done via subject acceleration or grade skipping (e.g., a sixth-grade student taking eighth-grade science). Although students of various academic ability levels are eligible for acceleration, most of the participants are students that are a part of the gifted spectrum.
