The mood is the quality of a verb that expresses the writer’s attitude toward a subject. Also known as mode and modality. In conventional grammar, there are three significant moods:
- The indicative mood is employed to make factual statements or pose questions, such as the interrogative.
- The imperative mood is employed to express a request or command.
- The subjunctive mood is employed to show a wish, doubt, or anything contrary to fact.
In addition, there are numerous minor moods in English.
